Jao Tsung-I Academy Venue Rental & Heritage Booklet

Designed a comprehensive 8-page bilingual promotional booklet to facilitate venue rentals for the Jao Tsung-I Academy, a landmark dedicated to the revitalization of historic buildings. The project required balancing a rich historical narrative with practical, data-heavy information for event planners and exhibitors.

I utilized original photography from the academy to create a visual journey that introduces the site's new role in the community. The booklet serves as both a cultural archive and a functional sales tool, detailing exhibition halls, restaurants, and specific spatial requirements.

Editorial Design & Hierarchy

The Challenge

  • Information Density: Condensing decades of history and complex rental data into a portable 8-page format.
  • Resource Constraints: Navigating limited resources for purchasing external graphics or premium fonts while maintaining a high-quality aesthetic.
  • Thematic Integrity: Designing a layout that strictly honors the traditional, historical theme of the academy without feeling dated.

The Solution

  • Modular Grid System: Developed a modular grid system that allowed for flexible image placement while maintaining a rigid structure for technical specs.
  • Hybrid Photography Strategy: Curated a visual library by combining existing internal photography with personally shot supplemental photos of the venue to ensure a cohesive look at no extra cost.
  • Iterative Design Testing: Conducted multiple layout iterations to find the optimal balance between high-density text and elegant "breathing room" that reflects the academy's serene environment.
